On March 13, 2026, I underwent a breast reduction.
What began as an instinctive decision became a process in which my relationship with my body, my self-image, and my sense of control continuously shifted. In Fig. 22, I document this transformation not as a linear narrative, but as a collection of moments in which physical change, uncertainty, vulnerability, and control coexist.
Photography became a way of staying close to my body while also creating enough distance to observe it. I photograph the body before, during, and after the procedure, as well as the spaces, traces, and moments connected to it.
The project explores what it means to make a decision about your own body, while recognising that such a decision is never entirely separate from social expectations, cultural norms, and the desire to feel comfortable within your own body.
Fig. 22 is therefore not only a record of physical transformation, but an exploration of autonomy, self-image, and the ways in which we learn to look at our own bodies.
